Kim's Krypt History
"It is more than just a Haunted House; it is an ADVENTURE!!!!"
When Bill and Ann Yates took Lil' Kimmy to Disney World in 1973, they never expected her to come back a blood spewing, head spinning maniac. Who knew an innocent ride with a spooky ghost through the Haunted Mansion could have such an effect on a 9-year-old girl? As soon as she got off the ride she begged for a creepy old man mask from the costume shop and used it to scare motorist along I-95 the entire way back to Baltimore. That Halloween, with the help of her Father's old clothes and the mask, she created her first porch monster to scare all the ghouls and boils!! For the next 20 years (ketchup, ketchup, ketchup, mustard!!!) she collected masks, props, ideas and, each Halloween, turned her parents' living room into her own version of the Haunted Mansion. She also learned to play drums during this time and joined the infamous Baltimore metal band, Scarlet Angel, among others, and got a good job. You probably don't want to hear a day by day account of her insane life here, so the book will be out soon including chapters entitled "You're an Idiot!" and "Lil' Kim...She Still Owes Me Money." Soon, Kim's Krypt started to take shape (we are still trying to figure out what it is) and people began rising from their graves by the hundreds to come out and see the Queen of Ghouls' (as labeled by Maryland Residents) scary yard display with monsters and all in Edgewood, MD. Then in 1994, (The more you look, The more you see, The more you drink, The more you PEE-E-E-E-E!!!) Kim's Krypt took full form in Rosedale, MD with a full-blown, spine-tingling, super scary, make you want to pee your pants, throw up your dinner (if it's DEAD), spooktacular, blow-your-mind-Haunted House. Wasn't that a fast 21 years? They say time flies (yum) when you are having FUN! Since 1994, Kim has continued to develop into the small breasted middle age woman that she is now (you call that developing?). Everything went smoothly at 1202 Berkwood Road from 1994 to 2002...Well, except for the arrests, jail, and court in 2002-2003. In 2001, she even had to temporarily move the Krypt to an old haunted restaurant on Route 40. We had a lot of fun there with the ghost of the former owner. After that the Krypt was housed in the Glen-Mar VFW Hall and, now, at the Merritt Park Shopping Center. Kim's Krypt has become so popular that we were the featured mini-haunt at the Horrorfind and Creepcon Conventions in 2001 and 2002 and we have been requested to appear at events as far away as New York and Pittsburgh!! We are always looking for the perfect location to call our permanent home. |
